Sandford Station Railway Heritage Centre

Situated five miles from Yatton Station along The Strawberry Line, seven miles from Weston-super-Mare and seventeen miles from Bristol, Sandford Station Railway Heritage Centre offers interest for railway enthusiasts, historians, families and those who just want to sit quietly for a while.

Explore the exhibits in the station waiting room and the ticket master’s office as well as our Sentinel locomotive and rolling stock

The Centre will re-open from Saturday 4th April 2026 to

Sunday November 1st 2026

We are open from 11am to 4pm on Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays

Peaceful Location

The Heritage Centre is in a peaceful location in the village of Sandford with easy access to the Strawberry Line. See our Location page for more details.

Play

Children of all ages can play with the railway toys and explore the vintage BR Mk1 Coach, the trucks and stand on the footplate of Marjorie, our Sentinel shunter. There is also a small children’s play area adjacent to the Centre.

Model Railway

Watch our 1 Gauge model railway in action. It runs frequently, weather permitting, but not all day as it is dependent on the availability of our volunteer staff.

History

Exhibit boards around the centre show the history of the station, the exhibits and provide information about the local area.

Books

We have a selection of new and pre-loved books on site that are available for purchase. Many are railway-related but there are other titles also.

Donations

SSRHC relies on donations to keep it going. Please consider making a donation towards the operation and upkeep of the site.

Accessibility

The station is accessed via a ramp from the road and is well-suited to those in scooters or wheelchairs. The trucks have access ramps and movable seating to provide a novel place to relax.
